Market day

We learnt how to set up a successful marketing product and make a business plan.

For market day, my group “Survival Style” made paracord bracelets in my group there’s: Me, Anik, Levi, Xavier, Ella, Cooper and Richie, we had two kinds of paracord  a thick one which is more expensive ($5 ) And a thin one is cheaper ($4)

We had small, medium and large, and when market night came (it started at 4:30) We were ready.

We also had to write down what size and kind of bracelet, our bracelets sold really fast, and the next day when we got to school that our group made 324.90 dollars!!!

Mount Eve-wrist*

Have you ever broken a bone? Or sprained something? Well on Friday the 13th at morning tea I was playing soccer on the bottom field and I tripped on a clump of grass and fell on my wrist and in the afternoon I started to Notice that my wrist hurt a LOT and that evening there was this hard lump.

over the weekend my wrist hurt more and more on a scale of one to ten when I wasn’t using it probably seven and when I am like opening the door or a jar WOW! About an eight or a nine! So I went to the doctors on Monday. But they didn’t even do anything! they just put me on a zoom with a doctor, so she couldn’t feel it or get a good look, I tried to show her my wrist  but the lighting was terrible! In the end they told us to get a X-ray, so off we went (me and my dad) to Kaitaia.

After the X-ray on my wrist (which wasn’t broken) Dad and I went to Mc Donald’s! I ordered a burger, like a huge cheese burger, frozen coke and fries.

Back at school I said the lump on my wrist was Mount Everest.

Did you get my joke in the tittle?*

Circus practise

On Wednesday 18th of October Circ ability came to Nikau class ( My class! ) To teach us circus skills, they tried to teach us how to juggle. ( I couldn’t juggle well,) I also got hit in the face a couple of times when someone’s ball goes flying. Then we spun plates it was so cool!

If you were right handed you had to use your left hand to hold the stick and if you were left handed you had to use your right hand. It makes spinning the plates easy!

And again I got hit on the head! When I was picking up my fallen plate Aniks and Levis plates fell on me (Ouch!), In one of the photos you can see Anik laughing because her own plate fell on her face.

I can’t wait for next Wednesday.🤡    🤡    🤡

Family tree

In the the holidays we had to start a speech and do three Matariki activates which include: Family Tree, if you had five wishes and what are they,  family kai

In the family tree I only did one side of of my family tree because it took ages and my mum had already did most of hers.

I got really far like past great, great, great grandfather and I found out that I’m from: Norway, Ireland, Philippians, New Zealand and other stuff .

And were in the war.

But its sad I read that two kids died because they  needed surgery then something bad happend and the surgery wasn’t open then they you know, they were about 11

Something from below

It was a beautiful Summers day Jade and Alex were camping in the bush. Jade was lying on her sleeping bag reading then all of a sudden she sprang up “Alex! Did you get my go-pro from the river!?” She yelled.

“Uh… no?” He said unsure

“Well, it’s your fault” Jade whined flicking back her brown hair “stop, whining Jade, so I left your go-pro at the river biiiig deal” as the siblings argued there was a big splash  “well there’s somebody there already” Alex rolled his eyes as Jade huffed.

As they reached the river bank Alex and Jade gasped there was flatten reeds, bent trees and weird marks in the mud

“I can’t believe somebody would wreck our river!” Cried Jade “wait look over there!” she yelped “my go-pro!” “Yeah, yeah your go-pro, come on let’s go for a swim!” said Alex as he jumped in with Jade trailing behind him.

Then all of a sudden he screamed.

TO BE CONTINUED.

Production

last week we had our production Ūkaipo! Each class had a act or dance .Ūkaipo is about a boy Moehuri coming home, he lives in Sidney but his Whanu is in New Zealand like his cousin Ricky, Nan, The mad Butcher ( his Uncle ) . When he get to New Zealand he is greeted  by his uncle and he takes him to Oruaiti where he meets Ricky, Nan, Boy and Billy T then Ricky takes him in side to watch TV were he learns about NZ things, kiwiana: Buzzy bees, Whalers, gum boots, weet-bix, Boy and Foot trot flat and the news and a beached act. Alyla was a dog I was one and Indica was one too. My class did Foot trot flats, we were dogs and farmers dancing to Slice of heaven, in parts of the song the dogs would do an answer back, it was hilarious

Malaphor

This week we’re learning about malaphors a malaphor is a figure of speech,  some don’t make sense but it doesn’t need to  example: it’s not rocket science and  it’s not brain surgery = its not rocket surgery. we had to write down ten idoms that we like then create two of our own malaphor out of the ten.

Nz poet study

              BRIAN TURNER

Brian Turner is a New Zealand poet, my two favorite poems he wrote are: The river in you and Trout.

Brian was born on the 7 of May 1964.Brian Turner was a sporty man who played Hockey and Cricket he also lived in a small town with about 30-40 people.

He was born in New Zealand in Dunedin but is British, now he works in  a south African wine bar and restaurant called Vivat Bacchus

River you ←THE RIVER IN YOU LINK

trout ←TROUT LINK

I like his poems because of the way he has the rhythm when he speaks. It’s slow but fast, I specifically like the part when he says:

 for it’s never the same

 yet it’s always something like

what you think you remember

 from the time before.

I also really enjoyed the part in trou when he says:

 you can hardly see him

for nature’s camouflage: trout

 magnificent trout darkly

 speckled, toffee brown.

I like the way  he uses adjectives  in his poems, his voice is confident  and calm which I enjoy.
